Upgrade & Licensing Mikrotik

How to Upgrade & Licensing Mikrotik ?

First step visit

www.mikrotik.com and head to the download page, there choose the
type of system you have the

RouterOS installed on.

Download the Combined package, it will include all the functionality

of RouterOS

Connect to your router with Winbox, Select the downloaded file with your
mouse, and drag it to the Files menu:

 The upload will start

• After it finishes REBOOT and that's
all! The New version number will be
seen in the Winbox Title and in the
Packages menu

As an alternative, use FTP:
Open your favourite FTP program (in this case it is Filezilla),
select the package and upload it to your router (demo2.mt.lv is the address of my router in this example).
note that in the image I'm uploading many packages, but in your case you
will have one file that contains them all
1:IP Server
2:User Name Your server
3:Password Your server

if you wish, you can check if the file is successfully transferred onto the router
(optional):

Open  WinBox
Go to Terminal type

file print

You will see All File Uploaded

..

Type

system reboot

press

 y
• after the reboot, your router will be up to
date, you can check it in this
menu: /system package print
• if your router did not upgrade correctly,
make sure you check the log
/log print without paging

License allows
• Your software can be upgraded only up to a certain
version of RouterOS, for example in the following router,
license upgrades will be possible only until up to the last
version of RouterOs v3:
• If you are trying to upgrade this router to RouterOS v4,
then it will not allow you to do this. You will have to
purchase a license for v4 and apply it. Then the
`upgradableto`
value will change.

Licensing
• Software License (Software Key) is for each
individual installation (Storage Media)
• License never expires
• License can be obtained for current major
release of RouterOS
• You can downgrade to any older version
• You need to purchase a new key for a higher
version of RouterOS than permitted by the
license
